So good they built it twice!
George Beale is a self-taught, consummate classic motorcycle restorer and achieved a worldwide reputation for his work on AJS7Rs.
As he developed his restoration career, he perfected a dynamic network of craftsmen and built a supply chain to support a flourishing business.
His reputation was a powerful draw to international visitors, one of whom was Masahiro Satoh, manager of the Honda Museum in Japan, containing original exhibits from their glorious racing history.
When asked by Mr Satoh what his dream restoration subject would be, George identified the Honda Six as the ultimate project.
Permission was granted on the spot, quickly followed by written confirmation on Mr Satoh’s return to Japan and then began one of the most exhaustive classic restoration journeys of all time…25 years from conception to delivery of the final replica in an approved batch of 10.
It took all of George’s hard-earned experience from his AJS project to build the Honda supply chain but even then, it wasn’t without major hurdles.
Getting permission from the creators of the most iconic grand prix racer was one thing, but recreating this ultimate feat of engineering was another.
Very quickly it became apparent that there were no original drawings to support George in his quest and that’s where Tokyo collector Terry Murayama came to the rescue.
